Happy Valentine's Day!
Ansley picked out the heart fabric a while ago and I knew it would be perfect for Valentine's day. I used the bodice from Simplicity 2063 and this tutorial by Kitschy Coo to line the bodice. I sketched out a heart and crossed my fingers it would work, inspired by the Sweetheart Dress by luvinthemommyhood, which I actually found out I won from You and Mie yesterday, so clearly I'll have to have another go at it. :) The skirt section is just two width of fabric sections gathered together. I did baste the heart tulle layer to the bodice before basting the underskirt (same fabric as the bodice) to the bodice/tulle, then stitched it and it turned out nicely/ was pretty painless.
I made my tulle skirt using Cotton and Curls tulle skirt tutorial (minus the gathering- mine is just basically 3 circle skirts- one knit layer and two tulle layers and lots of basting and pinning ha) right before Christmas but never got around to getting pictures and had to take the waistband in a bit (which isn't a bad thing, right?). Ansley has a matching one but there aren't any pictures of it. Ansley picked out the shoes for me from TJMaxx. They were only $7. She then informed me that she wants a pair of shoes just like them in her size. That's not happening any time soon. HA.
Same picture but pink, per Ansley's request.
Using the dinglehopper.
Hope you have a great Valentine's Day!

ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect Valentine's Day outfit! I love how the dress takes on a new life as she is spinning, it really looks like a different dress than when she is sitting down. Just lovely!
ReplyDeleteMe tooo love love love. She looks so happy & fun just like her mommy.
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute dress! And Ansley is so smiley for pictures; I love them. Does she do that naturally or do you have to bribe her? I have to bribe my kids with candy or shove puppets in their faces; they hate smiling for the camera!
ReplyDeleteOh how cute! I saw the link you posted in Cotton and Curls tulle skirt tutorial post.. Great job!
