Easter Dress (and practice dress)

Oh how I love the Geranium Dress by Made By Rae. The little cap sleeves are adorable and these are the best and easiest pockets to sew I'm scheming a whole bouquet of them! :)

I found this fun cotton fabric at Hancock Fabrics sometime last year. Ansley informed me that she didn't like it and it was for a baby. Luckily her opinion changed by the time I was ready to use it. Ha. It would've been nice for St Patrick's Day but it wasn't done in time. The rainbow dress is a size four. I had a sport zipper (that I picked up on clearance a while ago when I decided I needed to learn to sew a zipper) in my random box of sewing stuff so I tried installing it. It's a little bulky for the dress but very sturdy. The zipper is nine inches long and it broke my needle trying to shorten it. I only had a yard and a half and the print wasn't even with the grain of the fabric. I did my best to line it up but it's a bit off.

Ansley's Easter dress is a size five with a lapped zipper and a hook and eye (I used a seven inch zipper this time). I trimmed a half inch from the bodice back (on each side) and increased the seam allowance of the back of the skirt to 5/8 inch. Then I followed the directions from my attache dress. I also only topstitched the bodice to the skirt. The fabric is from one of the past lisette lines. I love the sheen and feel. (and for the record we're a no shoes house but these brand new shoes that haven't been outside yet are okay).

  1. Yes, I love the little cap sleeves, too. I need to try one with the pleats, next. and the ruffle sleeves because I think they're so cute, too. Good job! I bet you could whip up a Geranium in no time at this point!!
