Ansley's dress- top is Simplicity 0351a again, minus the elastic in at the bottom of the sleeves (Ansley's choice) and the skirt is just two width of (not prewashed b/c that's when our dryer was broken ha) fabric pieces gathered together.

Me- Colette Sorbetto Top minus the pleats and lengthened by the scientific amount of the width of a receipt plus sleeves and Oliver + s lazy days skirt pattern.

Tyrone- super cheater tie. I traced one of his ties and sewed the two pieces right sides together. I could've added interfacing but was lazy/running out of time and he generously said he didn't care.

We broke even this year as far as the free meal goes but since everything will fit next year, it'll be even better.

I posted a video on youtube. It's not as perfect as I want it to be but at least the lapped zipper of my dress looks good. :)

I also became obsessed with Castle, read all of the books by Castle, did some more sewing (pics to come), went to the Redwoods (coolest place ever! lots of pics to come), had another miscarriage on our trip (boo), and sent my camera in for cleaning. Don't worry, I've got a nice back log of pics to share. Or maybe you should be worried. . . .

A Happy Little Thing

Tinkerbell by replicate then deviate

I finally finished Ansley's Tinkerbell dress. All of the pieces except the sleeves have been cut out since November or December of last year, right before our trip to Disneyland. I had finished a dress for each day (Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Snow White) so Tinkerbell got pushed to the bottom. She's not exactly my favorite in the classic Peter Pan. I think her newer spin off series are probably better but we haven't seen them.

Anyway, this is the same dress with flutter sleeves from a different view (simplicity 0351a which also has another number but I don't know what it is). I got a little confused with the bias binding of the armholes but did something that worked but probably wasn't what the instructions intended. I will have to do some more research.

The skirt is a also a circle with five free handed petals. (inspired by the petals on this gorgeous dress by icandy). Ansley picked to have a raw edge on the circle skirt so it's just zigzagged instead of folded under twice. I also zigzagged the raw edge of the sleeves and around the petals (which don't have raw edges b/c they're actually two petals sewn together).

I didn't calculate where to place the petals, just arranged them so they seemed just about right. I don't know why I didn't realize it was going to be a flower when the circle skirt is spread out completely. Ansley likes to step in her dresses rather than putting them on over her head.

Better pics of her Cinderella dress. I didn't realize the two shades of blue were so similar. The sleeves and three quarters of the skirt are lighter blue. (I also made the Sleeping Beauty dress by adding a lighter pink peplum to the same pattern as her Snow White dress.)

The Happiest Place on Earth Part One

Here's the first installment of pictures from over a month ago. We spent almost three days at Disneyland and I didn't think I'd want more time but I did! This post is character themed, with a few relevant photos interspersed.

Lunch with the Princesses! Lunch was delicious but it was kind of hard to take the pictures I wanted between all of the tables and with all of the people. I was glad the website recommends spending about 90 minutes there b/c I would've really been surprised at how long the meal took.
